Wendy Simons has
had lifelong involvement in the health
care industry. She has been involved in
numerous aspects of the assisted living
industry for over 35 years. She
literally grew up in the senior care
environment as her mother developed the
first residential care home in Nevada in
1948. She has operated large and small
facilities, served as a leader in
legislation and regulatory issues;
charted industry trends; and worked with
aging services agencies, the UNR School
of Medicine, and networking entities for
the industry. She was a founding member
of the Assisted Living Federation of
America (ALFA) and participates as a
speaker in seminars and workshops for an
extensive list of health care industry
partners.
Her experience
spans many areas of operating and
advising in the assisted living arena,
both physically frail and memory loss
modalities, including: Start-up,
functional design programming, daily
operations, staff development and
training, client relations, marketing
and maintaining census, direct care and
staff retention to support the quality
of life and work environment for
residents and employee teams. She is
the author of numerous training programs
as well as articles for the “Senior
Spectrum”, “Generation Boomers”
magazines. She is recognized state wide
for her ability to bring teams together
for health care issues and discussions.
She has also served as a paid lobbyist
on industry issues and an expert court
witness on standards of care.
Wendy recently
served 5 years working for the Nevada
State Health Division’s Bureau of Health
Care Quality and Compliance as a
regulatory compliance consultant for 18
months then as Chief of that Bureau for
2 � years. During her tenure she was
responsible for the licensing and
oversight of all medical and other
related facilities in the state, working
with CMS as the state agency for survey
and certification of health care
facilities. This Bureau inspected and
had additional oversight of Medical
Laboratories, Child Care Licensing,
Radiation Control and Radiation
Producing Machines , Hospitals, Nursing
Homes, Assisted Living Facilities,
Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Dialysis,
Hospice and Home Health Agencies, Adult
Day Care among others.
Many have
considered Wendy to be the authority on
senior care in the State of Nevada.
With the balance of being a business
developer and owner, her past
participation in many boards and
commissions, her legislative work and
her experience as the head of the
regulatory agency for health care,
